Conratulations James Nugent

December 2023 - Club member James Nugent is the new world champion in the club class. The world champs are held in Australia every 10 years or so and this time round were in Narromine, NSW. Pictured are James with his family and team members Dave and Marg. James will be in at the club over easter 2024 some come and meet a world champion and maybe have a fly with him.

solar panel installation

The gliding club acknowledges the support of Mildura Rural City Council in providing an environmental grant to assist with the cost to install a solar power system at the club. The system was completed in 2019 and will reduce the carbon footprint of the club for at least 25 years into the future. The sport of gliding is itself a low user of resources as the gliders are ultimately powered by the sun as they use the power of hot air rising in thermals generated by the sun heating the ground.

"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return"
